A HUGE congratulations to Whitney who took home the Men’s Stylist of the year Award last week in Las Vegas at NAHA 2017.
Whitney VerMeer is a national educator for Baxter of California, L’Oréal s exclusive men’s grooming brand and a platform artist for Hattori Hanzo shears.
As well as doing editorial and session styling she owns and operates the contemporary design hair-art studio The Aesthetic X-Whitney VerMeer where she caters to her high-end and creative clientele and uses her studio space also to collaborate with other artists bringing the Minneapolis creative community together.
She is truly a master at her craft and is often referred to as ” the lead architect in modern barbering “.
Whitney, what made you decide to focus on modern barbering?
I decided to focus on barbering after I had been a generalist for years. I worked under a barber who taught me to cut hair based off design philosophy and after I had developed that understanding, I took it to another level. I have always been inspired by architecture and I use a lot those elements in my cutting.
What are your favorite styling products?
My favorite styling products hands down are Baxter of California! I am a national educator for them and they are an incredible company!
What are your favorite tools of the trade?
Shears- Hattori Hanzo ,I’m also a platform artist for them, and Andis clippers and trimmers.
