This classical teased and lacquered up-do was created in 1960 by Margaret Vinci Heldt who owned Margaret Vinci coiffures in Chicago.
After winning the national coiffure championship in 1954 she was asked by the editors of modern beauty salon magazine to create a new hairstyle that would reflect the look of the coming decade.
The French added a twist on this.
This super feminine pilled-hi-hairdo was and remains the style symbol of the 1960’s.
Some of our favorite looks from then till now.
