The US army has lifted the ban on dreadlocks, twists and braids.
This ban was installed in April 2014 concerned about neat appearance, hygiene and ability to fit uniform headgear, but after many requests to remove this ban and clearing up misconceptions about these hairstyles it has finally been reversed as of January 2017 although still with Army grooming regulation 670-1 which states each twist, lock or braid must be of uniform dimensions with a diameter no bigger than half an inch.
A victory for freedom of hairstyles for many serving the country.
